What is Circuit Training?
Circuit training is a popular form of exercise due to its beneficial effects on overall fitness and strength, circuit training takes advantage of high intensity interval training (HIIT) . This involves short bursts of intense activity followed by rest periods, to periodically increase your heart-rate to its maximum.
Sessions are centered around a series of pre-planned exercises. One circuit, is the completion of each of these, moving between exercises after a few seconds of rest. Though we mainly use our body-weight, some equipment based exercises (including medicine balls, wall balls and skipping ropes) are also included for those who prefer a greater challenge.
Exercises include press-ups, crunches, back raises and many more for whole body conditioning and endurance.

What do I need to enjoy circuits?
Just bring yourself and as much enthusiasm as you can muster. Clothes however should be comfortable, and your shoes suitable for indoor sports use.
A water fountain is available in the sports hall, but we advise you bring your own drink and small towel.

What happens in each class?
Warm-Up
Each class starts with a group warm-up and stretching to loosen up your muscles and prepare them for the night's work.
Group and circuits
Warm ups are usually followed by group exercises (up to 4 people on a mat at a time) and the traditional circuit layout. Get to know your class mates and get fit at the same time!
When time permits, we finish the session with some running.
We have a huge variety of exercises for you to try and alternatives are available for those who find any particular routine too strenuous, or even too easy!

Warm down
To reduce the inevitable post-circuits ache (we all get them), the session is finished with a cool down and some stretching.
